For an idea that started as a joke (#36 on the original list), pretty cool what ended up coming out of it. For anyone who's interested - here's the published version of the presentation:

We honestly think this has some legs if you can get over the ridiculous cost of building the database from the beginning. Anyone who wants to take a crack at it let us know.

Big props to Will, Gerry, Josh, Kurt and Dale (the Developer). Had a great time and learned a lot. Maybe I did do more work when I started my "real" company, but this was an excellent experience in market research. At worst there are some great ideas to explore. We got to use BLINK and MARQUEE tags which was awesome. BETA Betty is hot.

Thanks to everyone we met this weekend. Total blast! Thanks to Nick, Jason and everyone else who busted their busts on this. Really well done.

This is one of those "flip it" propositions: don't spend the money to build databases, spend relational capital to partner with organizations who have already built databases: nonprofit fundraising events (people drink heavily at golf tournaments), running clubs, etc. School alumni orgs are always looking for revenue splits and networking gimmicks. All I ask for is 3% of the final take ;-)
