I love it, Kate. I have had a few conversations about the Dunkin Donuts' "Dunkin Run" concept and making that a platform that you can add onto a restaurant's site in a similar manner that you are referring to. The worst part about tell your frien...

I'm the owner of a tech community venue in Lexington, KY called Awesome Inc. We've hosted SW a few months ago here and now we're having a Mobile miniConference on July 18th. There will be speakers from the original facebook mobile, Yahoo!, and speakers on Google Android, Palm Pre, the iPhone. We'll even have a workshop that will walk you through how to build your first iPhone app.

Just wanted to let you know since you're obviously into the tech startup scene (it looks like you were the one managing the Nashville Startup Weekend blog) and you're not that far away from Lex (and this is the only mobile conference (that I've heard of) in the midwest).

I'd love to talk to you about potential ways to promote the event too if you have some time next week (luke@awesomeinc.org or 859.494.9302) Let me know!

Have a good day, and I hope to see you up here if you can make it!

barSourcing to barBOODLE

boo~d"l; slang, n. : Money accepted as a bribe.

barDOODLE started as a way to pop off to others in a bar about some poor guy driving at a deal slightly over his head.

The group consisting of Dale the Developer, David Ledgerwood, Kurt Strickmaker, Will Bridges, Josh Bledsoe, and Gerry Andrady instead decided to punch web 2.0 square in the mouf and actually shoot for revenue before building out the social aspect. The last time that was a popular concept half of the NSW attendees were still just… Continue

ChowNow Confidently Takes Project Past Weekend

If any of the team's need to see how a group of strangers can gather around a big idea and tackle a list of tasks look no further than Kraig Haberer and the ChowNow team. "ChowNow is going to happen," exclaims Haberer.

The team consisting of Don England, Melissa Harris, Peter Rousos, Tim Neiman, Joshua Burcham, and Jon Hicks have taken a big and solid concept, completely tore it apart, and repackaged the original idea in an executable format. ChowNow went from what the team determined to be an… Continue

PlayDate Stays True to the Pitch

When you have a simple and executable idea with an understandable appeal it is easy to try and balloon the idea into something else. This is exactly what the PlayDate team did NOT do. Pete Brumm pitched an unlikely idea Friday night to a group of 80 strangers with a 18:1 male to female ratio. His idea was for an iPhone app to help parents (mostly stay-at-home moms as the target market) coordinate playdates amongst their controlled group of fri… Continue
