This project pitched by Nicholas Holland on Friday was officially the first pitch for Nashville Startup Weekend on the first day of the Ning site! On that day, Holland briefly mentioned that "nobody is going to want to work on a game at an event like this, but this will help us test the discussion board."

By the approximate 90%+ first vote acceptance rate, Holland appears to have underestimated the draw that most people have to killing their friends. After the culling process was completed, Holland was joined by Jackson Miller, Darrin Dickey, Rajesh Kommineni, Michelle "Four Pitch" McMannus, John C, Anne Hussung, Pete Pantaz, and Matt Bigleow.

This team has had serious brain gears churning since we left the pitch session. As reported in the Saturday night team updates, the team seems to have segregated by resposibilities into very productive, self-managed groups. For a project of this scope, it is surprising to me that it appears, at this point, to be in great position to launch a prototype by Sunday evening. The official launch will be delayed by AppStore's application/approval process, but as far as Startup Weekend's go this team is setting themselves up for a true success.

Viral component = check
Effective target market = check
Clean splash page design = check
Revenue model = eh... check

And as I see it, when Pantaz sent the cute robotic kitty cat to me, I never would have made it purr if I would have only known the outcome!

Oh yeah. That's where this is going...

There will be a publicly available API so that interfaces for non-iPhone devices can also be developed.

Hehe... I just spotted this while doing a search for gpsAssassin. Looks like you were right, we did finally call it gpsAssassin. The final site is www.killyourneighbor.com (or www.gpsassassin.com) and you can also get the app in the apple App Store. Whoo hoo!
